GC Battery Storage endorsement course special for SEIA VIC Members at Holmesglen’s
The rules for Grid-Connected Battery Storage endorsement changed from 1st January 2018. From that date, as an accredited CEC designer/installer, you are required to have the GC Battery Storage endorsement attached to your GCPV accreditation to perform such work.
The first pathway is offered fully online and is available to all suitably qualified and experienced designers/installers across Australia. Those who do not have current CEC accreditation in both are deemed not sufficiently experienced and are required to do the complete course.
The price is normally $625.00. For SEIA VIc Members it is only $400 but you must book in by Jan 1 2019
If you want to receive this and other great member benefits all you have to do is become a member. It’s only $100 per year!

Federal Government commits to SRES to 2030
Energy Minister backs down, heeds calls from solar consumers to save SRES. As part of his Energy announcements last week, Minister Angus Taylor has finally heeded calls from solar consumers led by Solar Citizens to rule out axing the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme.

This month I want to talk about Battery Life. Batteries have a number of Battery Life Type Statements
Design Life – Is not a guaranteed life expectancy of a battery. It is typically a specification that would take into account Float Voltage, Maximum Discharge Rate, Number of discharges, End Voltage Limit, Ripple Current Allowed, Depth of Discharge etc. Typically you will see a Design Life stated as XX Years on Float at XX Degrees Temperature. Design Life may be achieved in a strict environmentally controlled environment.
Cycle Life – This is the amount of Discharge/Charge Cycles you would expect to achieve at a given Temperature and Depth of Discharge. See also Service Life.
Service Life – Approximately how long a battery of a given Design Life will actually last in a site-specific application. Basically, the actual life achieved for a specific site and service conditions.

How are you currently promoting your small business?
- You need to do an analysis of what you are currently doing.
- You need to do an analysis of what your current communication is. Remember that any kind of activity is communicating something to the market. So, if there is a website or social media page that you have created (especially if it is your personal account) you must now look at what you are saying.
- Going through the Why or Purpose statement will help you to formulate the correct message as it will show you what your business is all about.
